"The second follow-up EP of demo tracks 'Civilians in Fatigues', began in January 2022. 'On Our Knees' is a cathartic call for understanding and compassion from bureaucracy, 'Rollercoaster' is an energy spiral that voices help and support for youth suicide, and 'Can't Avoid Love', 'Maybe' and the uplifting 'Heart Whole' fill the EP with laments on love. Much of the impact from covid inspired this collection of tracks. As too, the war in Ukraine pushed me to pen a war protest song, which became the title track", Vaughn Pinxit.

'Civilians in Fatigues' confidently sits in the Indie/Alternate music genre. Most of the demo tracks reflect an ‘unplugged’ production with Pinxit’s raw delivery of vocals and the acoustic guitar crafting a minimal and atmospheric soundscape. Inspiration is gained from the quality of lyrics and music that soothed Pinxit’s teenage soul while growing up in the 80’s and 90’s in Australia. Moral, and philosophical answers were found amongst the many concerts, pub gigs, cassettes, albums and then CD’s that Pinxit frequented and experienced. Pinxit’s lyrics shoot straight from the hip and prompt us to listen to the phrasing that reflects elements of Japanese Zen Koans – a short phrase like a riddle that alters one’s paradigm and thought/belief. The example chorus such as ‘Can’t Avoid Love’ provocatively and poetically prompts us to consider our life approach and dwell on the meaning. Here lies the strength in Pinxit’s songwriting that is delivered with sensitivity and offering philosophical insight into oneself.
